About Us
Dave and Michelle met in Flagstaff, Arizona in December, 2006. Their first date was a bike ride up a snowy mountain, and almost immediately they started planning a bike tour together. Those plans turned into a mountain bike tour on the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route in 2007, and from there, further fun outside adventures.
Michelle lived car-free in Flagstaff from of 2002-2007, and enjoys bicycling in all its forms. She also loves to hike, run and camp, and she skips whenever possible. After several years of living cheap and saving money, she quit her job as a web designer at Northern Arizona University in 2007 to travel with Dave. She now runs Skipping Girl Design – a web design and website usability testing firm in the Golden/Boulder area in Colorado. She is often dreaming of her next hike. Friends can connect with her via Facebook.
When Dave is not traveling by a bike or sea kayak, he enjoys backpacking, hiking and canyoneering. He recently started working for the National Renewable Energy Lab as a senior engineer testing and certifying wind turbines. He is glad to be applying his engineering ability within the world of sustainable energy development. For many years he lived in a wall-tent in the woods while working as an engineer. This lifestyle has contributed to allowing him to save money for his many adventures. Visit Dave’s website for more of his photos from past trips.
