Michelle’s Selle An-Atomica Titanico Review
I decided to change out my Brooks B17 saddle for a Selle An-Atomica for the Southeast Asia bike tour. (You can read my Brooks B17 review here.) I think the B17 was just a bit too rigid for being on the bike all day, every day, while touring.
I am extremely glad I made the switch! I experienced NO SADDLE SORES or pain from the Selle An-Atomica saddle during the 4-month SE Asia bik tour. There was no break-in period, and I was able to get the angle and everything set right away. There was no pressure on sensitive areas, and I never felt any numbness. I think the cutout helped for ventilation in the hot, humid Southeast Asia climate as well. I continue to ride the Selle An-Atomica on my bike for commuting around town and it’s comfortable while wearing street clothes for commuting.
Each side of the saddle provides a firm place for your sit-bones while being flexible to move slightly with each stroke of the pedal. When you go over bumps, there is the slightest of spring to cushion it. This doesn’t happen with saddles built on a hard plastic base. Don’t be fooled by squishy, cushy saddles either. I’ve tried a few of those (including Terry brand), and the Selle is much more comfortable. It’s a fair investment, but I think this saddle will far outlast any other saddle out there.
I would recommend other women try this saddle – I think you’ll leave the others in a box at home on your next bike tour. If women have specific questions about the saddle, please don’t hesitate to email me using the link at the bottom of any page on this site.
