2008 Southeast Asia Bike Tour
Four months in Southeast Asia called to us: it’s warm, it’s mostly flat, and it’s an area we both had on our list of places we wanted to explore.
Our original outline was to start in Singapore and head North through Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos and end in Yunnan Province in China. We realized quickly that we didn’t have time to see all of it on this trip, so we decided to see less but see it without hurry. We also took time to play on the beach as we worked our way up the coast of Malaysia and Thailand, hike, and do some diving.
Neither of us had been to Southeast Asia before, though Dave biked across Western China and Tibet a couple of years before. We hope these pages prove to be entertaining and helpful for those planning similar trips.
